SugarHouse bonuses change regularly and the SugarHouse sportsbook's welcome offer gives new users a second-chance bonus bet up to $500. The way this works is that if a new customer loses their first bet the sportsbook will refund it in the form of a bonus bet of the same size, as long as it was $500 or less.

There are a couple of notable terms worth understanding, though, as the bonus bet has to be placed on an event within 30 days of being issued and has to be used on a market with -200 odds or longer.

Perhaps the most important thing to remember with this type of offer is that a bonus bet is not as valuable as its cash equivalent because the payout on a bonus bet includes profits won only and the stake is not returned.

In many, but not all cases, these specials feature Pennsylvania sports teams, giving additional options to fans who prefer to bet on local squads.

On one day we checked the offers included a wide range of markets including bets on multiple NHL teams to score in the first period of an upcoming game as well as a future on the Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East and reach the NFC Championship game.

It's only possible to use SugarHouse Sportsbook within the state of Pennsylvania. 

While SugarHouse is under the umbrella of a company (Rush Street Interactive) with a larger footprint across the company through its BetRivers brand, it is exclusive to its home state.

As a sister sportsbook to BetRivers, SugarHouse's interface and visual styling should be familiar to anyone who's used that better-known online sportsbook.

SugarHouse Sportsbook has a clean interface with white and blue as the primary colors and yellow accenting. It is easier on the eyes than other common sportsbook color palettes dominated by red and black or green.

Beyond its core visual presentation, the SugarHouse platform is easy to navigate with a list of events of the lefthand side, a carousel of popular categories above the markets including both popular leagues like NFL and NBA as well as features that could apply to any sports such as live betting and specials.

The only dubious use of space is on the right-hand side, where there is a column that includes a single 'quick' same-game parlay pick and a newsfeed of other players' online casino wins.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to signing up for the SugarHouse online sportsbook:

Step 1: Visit the Website or Download the App

• Go to the SugarHouse website or download the SugarHouse app from your mobile device’s app store.
• Open the app or website and select the 'Join Now' option in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Start the Registration Process

• Enter your state and email address, as well as a screen name and password for SugarHouse.

Step 3: Complete Your Personal Information

• Fill in the required details, which include your full name, date of birth, and residential address and gender.

SugarHouse's apps unsurprisingly mimic the desktop experience as much as possible, presenting the user with categories such as 'live now', 'props', 'specials' and a variety of popular leagues and events at the top of the screen and notable markets below with a carousel of same-game parlays above them.

At the bottom of the screen, users can swap between the casino and sportsbook tabs, check out current promotions, contact support via chat, or inspect their current betslip.

While nothing in the apps are groundbreaking from a feature perspective they are well-executed and intuitive.

At the time of this review was written both the Android and iOS version featured excellent reviews from users (4.9 stars in the App Store and 4.8 stars on Google Play). Those are unusually high scores in a sportsbook category where users often have a myriad of complaints and concerns.

Looking at SugarHouse's odds we found it to be taking a vig percentage very much in line with the industry standard, which is currently hovering around 4.5% to 5%, depending on the bet type.

For popular North American sports leagues like NFL, NBA, and NHL the vig crept up towards 5% but did not go over, often residing between 4.64% and 4.97% on standard moneyline and spread wagers.

We reviewed SugarHouse’s customer capabilities, looking at efficiency, responsiveness and overall competence. Here’s an unbiassed summary:

• Support Platform: SugarHouse support platform has a list of articles to answer FAQs. Live chat is initially handled by chatbots that direct users to these articles. You can request to speak with an agent for more curated support but that can be a long process. For example, on one occasion we were put in a slow moving customer queue and we were 25th in line.
• Speed and Effectiveness: Our team interacted with SugarHouse's customer support at different hours to gauge their response times and the quality of service.

Here's an outline of our experience:

SugarHouse features a wide range of online casino games ranging from slots to traditional table games such as blackjack, roulette, craps, and baccarat.

Users should find the SugarHouse casino platform easy to navigate as the types of games are on a carousel at the top of the screen and there are a number of categories such as new games, SugarHouse exclusives and live dealer games.

One thing differentiating SugarHouse from other online casino options is its poker offering, which has its own tab on the website beside 'casino' and 'sportsbook' - and a specific welcome offer.

SugarHouse's responsible gambling offerings does not differ from industry regulations and they offer the minimum in order to be compliant.

The sportsbook provides a tab for them at the top of its site that leads to a page with basic information about its features and links to Pennsylvania problem gambling resources.

Although the presentation is unremarkable, SugarHouse has a number of responsible gambling tools available to its users.

SugarHouse was the first online and mobile sportsbook to go live in PA in May 2019, shortly after PA legalized sports betting in December 2018.

The brand is owned by Rush Street Interactive, which also owns the well known gaming brand BetRivers.

In recent years SugarHouse has pulled out of New Jersey and Connecticut, so SugarHouse is now a PA only brand. New Jersey residents have BetRivers as an option, and Rush Street Interactive left Connecticut altogether.

There was a SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia from 2010-2019 but it was rebranded as Rivers Casino Philadelphia in 2019.
