Understanding Fantasy Basketball Scoring
Fantasy basketball is a game that allows fans to participate in the NBA action by creating virtual teams composed of real NBA players.
The performance of these players in actual NBA games determines the success of fantasy teams. This article describes how NBA fantasy scoring works and explores various aspects of the game.

Types of Fantasy Leagues
Fantasy basketball can be played in leagues with different formats, each with its own scoring system.
The three main types are points leagues, roto leagues, and head-to-head leagues.
Points Leagues
In points leagues, players accumulate fantasy points based on their statistical performance in NBA games. Each statistical category is assigned a point value, and the total points determine the winner. For example:
- Field goals made: 2 points
- Three-point field goals made: 3 points
- Free throws made: 1 point
- Rebounds: 1 point
- Assists: 2 points
- Steals: 4 points
- Blocks: 4 points
- Turnovers: -2 points
A player who scores 20 points (10 field goals), grabs 10 rebounds, dishes out 5 assists, and commits 2 turnovers would earn:
(10 × 2) + 10 + (5 × 2) + (2 × -2) = 28 fantasy points
