A Three-Operator Market

Connecticut only has three licensed sportsbooks: DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics. Even with a limited field, the state is producing numbers that compare well to much larger markets. July’s revenue pushed total GGR for the year above $111 million, a strong figure for a state with under four million residents.

Market concentration has channeled most betting activity into these three platforms. That creates higher averages per operator and steadier returns for the state than markets where activity is spread thinly across many competitors.

How Connecticut Stacks Up Against Kentucky

Kentucky, with a similar population and eight sportsbooks in operation, posted $1.39 billion in handle and $153.9 million in GGR from January through June 2025. Connecticut, with fewer brands and a smaller overall handle of $1.11 billion through July, has already generated $111 million in GGR.

Connecticut (Jan–Jul)1.11B111.0M3
Kentucky (Jan–Jun)1.39B153.9M8

This shows how concentrated activity in Connecticut is yielding high returns per sportsbook. Three operators are producing totals that nearly match eight in Kentucky.

Outlook

July was Connecticut’s smallest handle of the year, but operator revenue remained steady and taxes still added more than $1.7 million to state coffers. With football season on the horizon, the market is expected to rebound, with monthly handle likely returning to the $200M range.
