Growth From 2023 to 2025

The past three Junes show how much the state’s sports betting market has shifted in just a short time. In June 2023, sportsbooks reported less than $75,000 in revenue. By June 2024, revenue jumped to over $800,000 on a much larger $13 million handle.

This June marked another leap forward. Although handle was smaller than the previous year, revenue surged past $14 million as sportsbooks held a stronger share of bets. That difference highlights how outcomes and win rates can dramatically shape results from one year to the next.

State Tax Impact

For Delaware, the most immediate benefit comes from tax collections. The state received $749,000 from June 2025 betting, nearly double the $424,000 collected the previous June and far ahead of the $38,000 reported in June 2023.

Even in a small market, the steady upward trend shows that sports betting is becoming a more meaningful contributor to state finances.

Looking Ahead

Delaware’s June performance underscores the volatility and potential of sports betting revenues. Handle can rise or fall depending on bettor behavior and the sports calendar, but stronger hold percentages can offset lighter wagering. With football season approaching, the state’s sportsbooks will have a chance to build on this momentum and potentially deliver even larger tax contributions in the second half of the year.
