What is Stake?
Stake is a modern crypto casino experience and competitive sports wagering platform. It is a gambling site that offers a range of betting options—from over 3,000 casino games to thousands of sports betting markets.
This guide will give a detailed overview of what Stake offers, how to get started, and how to maintain responsible gambling practices while using the Stake platform.
Getting Started: How Does Stake Work?
All new bettors in Canada must go through the same registration process to get started at Stake Sportsbook and Stake Casino. This includes a short sign up process, verification, and making a deposit. Here are the exact steps:
- Go to the Stake Sportsbook or Stake Online Casino and click the blue "Register" button in the top-right corner of the main page. This can be done on the Stake desktop platform or via mobile browser on iOS or Android.
- Stake does not yet have a mobile app.
- Enter your email, password, and date of birth, and click "next."
- Read through the “Terms and Conditions” by scrolling to the bottom of the page. At the bottom is a check box that asks if you've “read and agree to the terms.” Check it, and click to register a new account.
- Stake will then prompt you to set up a Stake Wallet, which every bettor on the site must have. This wallet is used for deposits of fiat currencies
- Available Currencies: CAD, USD, EUR, JPY, INR, ARS, BRL, CLP, CNY, IDR, KRW, MXN, NGN, PEN, PHP, PLN, RUB, TRY, and VND.
- Crypto: The wallet is also intended for cryptocurrencies, and Stake accepts more kinds of crypto than any other sportsbook. Currently, 22 crypto tokens are accepted (continue reading for the full list).
- To complete the wallet setup, all Stake bettors must verify themselves. This entails entering your personal details again, including your mailing address, occupation, industry, and occupation experience, before moving on.
- At this time, bettors will choose and upload a government-issued ID (Driver's license, Passport, National ID Card, etc.) and wait for Stake to verify it. This usually takes a few seconds.
- The last step is making a deposit into your Stake cash Wallet. Choose the currency (crypto or fiat) and the amount, and hit deposit. Depending on the method you choose, the time it takes to reflect in your Stake cash wallet will differ.
Depositing crypto into your Stake wallet?
Keep in mind that BTC chain transactions may experience longer wait times compared to ETH and other networks due to slower block confirmation speeds. Gas fees on blockchains are also inherent, compensating miners for processing transactions and ensuring network security. There will be gas fees on every transaction, so plan accordingly.
