About
Andrew Knoll is a seasoned sports reporter who has covered the Kings and Ducks beats for the Southern California Newspaper Group in addition to providing extensive national coverage to The New York Times, ESPN, and, now, RG Media.
He combines experience in high-pressure media environments, such as the Stanley Cup Final, with expertise in managing the day-to-day grind of the season and its news cycle. He began working in sports media as an editor on The New York Times sports desk, capitalizing on a prestigious internship with the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund to later become the lead contributor to The NYT's NHL coverage between 2015 and 2021.
His first major reporting break was in 2011, when he came aboard midseason to cover the historically hapless Kings. A few months later, they were hoisting the Stanley Cup, and two years later, they did so again. He later returned to those roots, covering the Kings since 2019 and Ducks since 2023 for the Los Angeles Daily News and O.C. Register.
A former professor of journalism with a Master's degree in the subject, Knoll prides himself on accurate reporting and ethical conduct, as well as compelling coverage. In addition to his formal education, his cultural savvy has been augmented by years of travel. He spent the better part of a decade in South America, learning Spanish and Portuguese during that time.
