Largest US Betting Operators Establish First Responsible Gambling Standards

Last week, six largest US iGaming operators gathered together to establish first ever responsible gambling standards. These operators are Bally’s, DraftKings, FanDuel, Entain, MGM Resorts International and BetMGM.

Bookmakers have formulated 12 principles of responsible gambling, which are derived from four core attributes.

• Operators will participate only in legal markets that provide consumer protections.
• Operators will strive to instill responsible gaming culture throughout their respective businesses.
• All forms of online gaming should be a fun activity and enjoyed as a form of entertainment.
• While the vast majority can enjoy online gaming responsibly, some need additional tools and support.

American Gaming Association (AGA) previously declared September Responsible Gaming Education Month in the United States. This step taken by the bookies is timed to it.

BetMGM's Chief Legal Officer, Joshua Jessen, said that his company is excited to stand with its colleagues to establish these standards. He believes it greatly strengthens a collective commitment to customers, employees, and the communities where the bookmakers operate.

Gambling Problem In USA

Multiple studies say that over 100 million American adults show at least some interest in sports betting. Those studies also indicate that at least 5 per cent of these people are problem gamblers.

The industry of legal online sports betting is new to the American market and brings huge profits. However, such a large number of problem gamblers is a serious issue.
