Pinnacle Acquires the AGCO Licence to Enter Ontario Market
Ontario's legal sports-betting market continues to grow, with Pinnacle becoming the latest brand to join it. According to multiple media reports, last week the company managed to receive the licence by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. AGCO will reportedly make an official statement in the coming days.
Pinnacle's CEO Paris Smith said that the company is really excited to join the Ontario market. He believes that local bettors deserve to be provided with the best betting opportunities. The Pinnacle.ca site is expected to be covering all major North American and global sports events.
Helping the Colleagues
The bookmaker also got a licence for its B2B arm Pinnacle Solution. It means that Pinnacle will be able to assist other sportsbooks in the region with their trading and risk management services.
Subject History
Becoming fully legit has always been Pinnacle's primary goal. The bookmaker has been operating both in Canada and in the US for many years. However, it was never fully licensed in North America. This became the reason why the operator was forced to leave the US market back in 2007 by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.
After that, Pinnacle got licensed by Malta’s Gaming Authority in 2015. However, that did not help the bookmaker to fully launch in any other markets until now. It is expected that their new Ontario licence will be valid for only a year, after which Pinnacle will have to reapply to extend it.
Other Newcomers
Ontario's online sports-betting market became fully legal in April and currently has more than 20 licensed operators. Apart from Pinnacle, Sports Interaction and Betway have also acquired their licences recently, with Bet 99 and BetRegal also being expected to jump in any time soon.
