OLG To Roll Out 1,400 Self-Serve Lottery Terminals In Ontario In 2023
About 1,400 self-serve lottery terminals are expected to appear across Ontario next year. This was announced by Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) in a statement issued last Tuesday.
The OLG said it will first "engage its retail partners and other industry stakeholders to proactively build support" and address questions about the new technology.
Security Measures
In the statement, the OLG assures it will provide the terminals with "age attestation" functionality, as well as "responsible gambling messages".
OLG reports that it has already entered into an agreement with IGT Global Solutions Corporation (IGT). IGT intends to assist OLG in the design and construction of new terminals.
When Is The Launch?
The corporation plans to begin introducing the terminals in the second half of 2023, subject to government approvals.
Ontario's Minister of Finance, Peter Bethlenfalvy, is optimistic about the news. He believes that the OLG "is making its lottery products more accessible, while maintaining its commitment to social responsibility".
